About

GRASSROOTS INSTITUTE helps ensure that managers develop the specific skills for shaping the organizations. Its trainers and professionals bring with them a core set of proven strategies and approaches based on research and rich personal experience for developing leaders. GI is a community of practitioners whose purpose is to build a better world by providing education and training to individuals in intercultural understanding and global development.

GI is based in Himachal Pradesh (India) and specializes in developing the skills and potential of individuals across the country and aims to become a leader in multicultural education and training. Its activities include facilitation of effective resource management, democratic participation and community involvement in programs, improved quality and equity in all programs, and advocacy. It offers uniquely relevant, international-quality and professional education opportunities for the leaders, managers and staff of NGOs and other civil society organizations.

All programs are built on the participants' prior development work experience and their ability to contribute directly to strengthening the capacity of their own organizations. GI provides managers of NGOs with the intensive education and intercultural training that is essential for enhancing their own performance and their organizations’ effectiveness.

GI’s major focus is on designing, developing and conducting management training programs for professionalizing non-profits management to equip managers with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes required for effectively responding to pressures and opportunities. Educational programs combine personal experience with case studies and problem solving exercises that give the participants the maximum benefit of management learning through individual exchanges. Needless to mention that the academic concepts are reinforced through interactive learning-cum-discussions, business games and indoor/outdoor activities. Participants do have the benefit of interacting with eminent academicians, policy makers and sector leaders.

GI’s capabilities range from the design and implementation of a full leadership development curriculum to the creation of a single development program. The organization’s leadership development interventions are business-driven, experiential, and compelling. We, at GI, use leadership simulations to give grassroots leaders a complete picture of their performance and to help them identify strengths and areas for improvement as well as emphasize on action planning and follow-up to ensure that new skills can be applied immediately on the job.
